Keeping our environment clean and safe is our duty. On a sweltering-hot Saturday morning, several TAS alumni members joined forces to pick litter at Coney Island Park. First and foremost, sincere appreciation to NEA for letting us use their trash bags, thongs and gloves.
At around 10am, our President, Mr Wayne Soo, signalled the start of our event. The group moved expeditiously from the West entrance to Beach A, then Beach B and finally Beach C, Common thrash discovered on the beach and along the trails include Styrofoam boxes, plastic water bottles and tiny pieces of microplastic. In one instance, one of us saw a water bottle trapped by the side of the water bay. Another team member immediately joked if we would ever see a long lost love letter. Haha....Did you know that plastics don't biodegrade?
After 2 hours of hunting and picking, we amassed almost 30kg of thrash. Way to go mates! Besides doing our part in ensuring clean beaches for all patrons, we enjoyed the quality bonding time thoroughly with one another. Additionally, our bodies benefited from the event because we all had great exercise - 5km walk and a good dose of sunshine. Vitamin D helps to strengthen our immunity even post Covid! Kudos to the TAS alumni members!
Délicieux
After a great sweat-out and countless mosquito bites (for those who are prone to it, you know what I mean), our stomachs growled. We jumped into a restaurant at the Punggol Settlement to first quench our thirst with ice cold drinks like balonglong and barley. Soon after...foods like the popular white bee hoon and spicy mee goreng were served speedily. It was a well-deserved lunch.
